Katy Brennan

The annual event is back in all its dazzling glory.

Wild Lights is set to make its return to Dublin Zoo this winter.

The night-time experience will take visitors on a magical adventure ‘Around the World’, where they will see some of the most famous global landmarks and iconic symbols – all through an incredible display of giant illuminated lanterns.

Visitors will witness the world’s most breathtaking sites, from the pyramids of Egypt to the Eiffel Tower, and even get the chance to jet off into outer space – all without leaving Dublin Zoo.

This year will also see the debut of a brand new theme, as Wild Lights extends into the African Plains for the very first time.

Dr Christoph Schwitzer, Director of Dublin Zoo, said:

“We are delighted to announce the return of the award-winning Wild Lights to Dublin Zoo for 2021. It’s incredibly exciting to welcome visitors back to experience a brand-new theme, where they can explore some of the world’s most spectacular landmarks.”

Wild Lights will run throughout the festive season from Thursday 28 October to Sunday 9 January 2022.

In November, Wild Lights will open Thursday to Sunday evening from 5 – 10pm. From December on, opening times will be extended to 4-9pm, seven days a week (excluding Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and St Stephen’s Day).

Tickets cost €22 for adults and €18 for children and are available here. A special rate of €20 euro for adults and €16 euro for children is available to annual pass holders. Admission is free for children under the age of three, however a pre-booked ticket will be required.

Dublin Zoo will continue to follow government guidelines on Covid-19. Wild Lights will follow a one-way walking trail and stagger entry times for visitors. Face masks are encouraged and visitors are advised to maintain social distancing. Hand sanitiser stations will also be available throughout the trail.
