Lewis Capaldi is currently in New Zealand for his first-ever live tour dates there.

And the 23-year-old got the welcome of a lifetime when his plane touched down there towards the start of this month.

The Before You Go hitmaker was greeted by the Pōwhiri and Waiata, a traditional welcoming ceremony, after arriving in the airport – with the Hātea Kapa Haka performing an absolutely stunning version of Someone You Loved in Māori.

Universal Music New Zealand shared two videos of the moment on their YouTube channel. The first clip, which was shared on January 7, shows the moment Capaldi arrived at the airport, his initial reaction when he realised they were singing his song, and him joining in.

Earlier this week, they shared the second video – the extended cut from Capaldi’s welcome.

“After posting the edited version of this clip last week we were inundated with requests to view the full version, so here it is,” they captioned the video.

You can watch both of the the clips below.

During his time in New Zealand, the singer was asked about his ex girlfriend Paige Turley’s appearance on Love Island UK.

The Someone Like You singer is backing his ex to win Love Island, although he admitted it would have “been a nice heads up” if she had told him she was going to be appearing on the show.

The 23-year-old told New Zealand chat show The Edge that their split had been “amicable.”

“I’ve known her for years. 18 when we first met, 19 when we started going out, 20 when we finished going out,” he said. “It was a very amicable breakup.”

He added that he will definitely be tuning into winter Love Island – and that he’s backing his ex to win the series.
