The most watched Netflix show of 2016 has been revealed

Nine million different accounts watched this in June this year.

Netflix doesn’t often reveal viewing figures for their most popular shows, but the when they do, the results are fascinating.

A new report from 7Park Data has been researching the most watched programmes on the streaming services and it appears that Orange is the New Black was the most watched show in 2016 for US Netflix users.

As reported in Business Insider, an estimated nine million different accounts in the US tuned in to watch the prison drama after the debut of its fourth series in June.

7Park Data complied a list of the Top 20 shows watched by Netflix users, and it appears in the US, syndicated shows like How I Met Your Mother, Pretty Little Liars, Supernatural, and Family Guy proved most popular with viewers.

When it comes to films and apparently Adam Sandler’s film The Do Over was the most streamed feature, with an estimated 2 million people watching the action comedy in June.

An interesting figure to note is 7Park’s tracking of Netflix’s original content. Apparently the viewer share of original works have dramatically increased in 2016. In studying over one billion global consumers, 7Park Data believe that Netflix original content viewership had ranged from 9% to 24% over the past few months.
