Westlife’s Shane Filan shares adorable family photos as he celebrates his 40th birthday

Shane Filan got a very special surprise during last night's Westlife homecoming gig at Croke Park - a birthday cake from his kids.

Westlife delighted fans last night as they took to the stage for the first of back-to-back shows, praising the crowd as the "best audience ever." But there was even more reason to celebrate for Filan, as he celebrated his 40th birthday yesterday and his three children -  Nicole, Patrick and Shane Jnr - were on hand with a surprise cake. According to RTÉ, the venue then erupted into a chorus of Happy Birthday. Ahead of last night's gig, Shane shared an adorable photo with his family as he said it was an "incredible way" to spend his birthday. He wrote:

"Such an incredible way to spend my 40th ,with my loved ones and the westlife army .... can’t wait for tonight !!!  it’s gonna be the best show ever."

Speaking after the first of the Croke Park gigs, the band said they were "overwhelmed" by the fan reaction - and that the show had been "mind-blowing". They said:

"We are genuinely overwhelmed by the reaction of our fantastic fans. "Never did we imagine that we would be back performing to 160,000 people in Dublin in one weekend, and never did we imagine the response to be as amazing as this. "Croke Park tonight was so special for all of us and we loved every minute of it. Seeing thousands of fans singing along to our songs, in Dublin, is mind blowing."
