Will there be a second season of Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life? Here’s what we know

Nostalgia hits different in 2020

Nostalgia hits different in 2020.

Maybe it’s because this year has been a blazing dumpster fire but honestly, whenever we hear a rumour of a TV show reunion it brings a touch of joy to our souls and we run with it. We all remember 2016 right? Nobody had heard of the Coronavirus and the Gilmore Girls blessed us with a mini-series reboot on Netflix. The story picked up ten years after the original and let’s be honest, life was good.

Despite this, the question of whether or not there’s more to come from the Gilmore Girls remains unanswered and we’re not happy about it.

We have to be honest, nothing has been confirmed but as Alexis Bledel (Rory) recently celebrated a birthday, it got us thinking about the show and how much we miss it. With that in mind, we donned the sleuth hats and set about gathering up every shred of evidence we could find on the possibility of the return of our favourite fast-talking family.

Back in August, we can confirm that a mystery developed on the IMDB site. A listing of a season 2 episode of Gilmore Girls appeared and yes… we lost our minds.

The season 2 listing has since been removed from IMDB so it could have just been a glitch, but that doesn’t stop us from dreaming!

If we want to really venture back we can look to 2017 when co-creators, Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Dan Palladino, signed a massive deal with Amazon. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the deal includes a Gilmore Girls clause, which allows them to continue the Netflix revival (eek).

The most concrete and recent news of a revival, however, dates back to February of this year, when Amy Sherman-Palladino hinted at a reboot at the 2020 Writer’s Guild Awards, she said “You know it’s the kind of thing where we hadn’t planned on doing the Netflix movies… never say never”. She added that it would have to be the “right time for everyone”, that is certainly not a no in our books.

Clearly, nothing has been confirmed but as the leaves begin to fall and Autumn sets in we’ll do the same thing every other OG fans do, we will rewatch the seasons change in Stars Hollow, drink too much coffee and dream about a movie!
