Louis Theroux’s next TV documentary looks absolutely unmissable

It's airing on TV this weekend.

This should be fascinating.

While you might be waiting a while to see Louis Theroux’s Scientology documentary, there is one set to be screened this weekend which looks just as intriguing.

15 years ago, Louis Theroux had a series of documentaries entitled ‘When Louis Met…’, one of which was about former Top Of The Pops host Jimmy Savile. At the time Louis quizzed him about the rumours of sexual assault, which, of course, later turned out to be true.

Now Louis is taking another look at the world of Jimmy Savile.

It was announced last year and BBC reported at the time that Louis used the documentary to “…try to understand the personality of a man who was able to commit such a spectrum of sexual crimes; how someone he once called a friend used his celebrity status to commit these crimes; and how the power of this public image afforded him immunity”.

The BBC’s preview of the film adds: “With the power of hindsight, Louis examines his own conscience and raises some challenging questions, to consider how he himself, the press, institutions Savile worked with, and society as a whole can make sense of their failings and learn from the past.”

The 75 minute documentary, which airs on Sunday night, will see Louis talk to some of Savile’s victims and co-workers, and look back on footage from his original encounter with Savile.

Louis Therous – Savile is on BBC2, Sunday October 2, at 9pm.
