When we packed our holiday cases as children and set off on a road trip with our parents, we assumed everyone was having a delightful time.
However, a new survey has revealed that this sometimes was not the case with over a quarter of parents admitting that they’d rather leave the brood at home.
Researchers from sunshine.co.uk, interviewed 1,562 parents about their holiday habits and 25 per cent of them revealed that holidays are more relaxing without the kids.
Many revealed they would rather jet off to a foreign country alone because it was a cheaper option and because with children in tow, it’s harder to sightsee.

A quarter of parents would rather holiday without the kids
Parents were also quizzed on how they entertained the children while on holiday and over 50 per cent of parents admitted that they relied on kids’ clubs to keep them occupied.
Chris Clarkson, the founder of sunshine.co.uk said: “Keeping children entertained on holiday isn’t difficult. Most resorts have plenty of facilities for children and you’ll find kid’s clubs in plenty of hotels; particularly across Europe."
"The parents we spoke to were obviously very honest when we asked them whether they tried to keep their kids entertained for their own benefit or for their children’s. I think everyone likes a bit of ‘me’ time, but a family holiday should be exactly that; all about family,” he said.
