An Aussie mum has had a mixed response from her Facebook followers after uploading a series of images of her breastfeeding her six-year old daughter. Maha Al Musa has defended her decision to breastfeed her daughter whenever and wherever Aminah wants milk, saying she is simply reacting to her daughter’s natural desire to be fed. The lifestyle choice also follows Maha’s strict Paleo diet, with the 52-year old claiming she chooses to feed her daughter naturally, shunning the chance to have her daughter immunised. Sharing some family snaps with Australian magazine ‘Woman’s Day’, the mum from Byron Bay is spotted holding Aminah as she breastfeeds in a local park. Captioning her shots, Maha has posted the images to her personal Facebook account, arguing: ‘Let child and mother choose what’s best for them, their circumstance and family. If we are all choosing then we are all equal. 4-8 (years) is NORMAL age for self weaning.’ When asked about still breastfeeding from her mum, Aminah told the magazine: ‘I might stop when I’m eight. It’s my favourite thing to do when I’m not at school. More kids should, because it’s good for you.’ A participant on The Discovery Channel’s Extreme Breastfeeding series, Maha says she will continue to breastfeed her daughter despite the backlash, saying it’s her choice and she enjoys the bonding time with her daughter.
