Jack and Emily are still the most popular baby names in Ireland, new figures have shown.

Data from the Department of Foreign Affairs this week showed that the two names were the most common on passports issued to children in 2014, with 574 of 53,046 passports having the name Jack.

According to the Evening Herald, trends were largely the same as 2013, with names such as James, Daniel, Conor and Adam remained popular.

When it comes to girls names, 456 passports were issued to girls named Emily and Sophie jumped two places into second spot.

Aoife dropped three positions to sixth place, while Zuzanna and Kacper were the highest new entries to the list.
