Bad news if you love your pints because the price of them is going up soon

Olivia Hayes

OK, it’s not that much, but still.

If you love going out for a few pints at the weekend or after work, then be prepared to pay a little bit more for them.

Diageo has announced that it is set to raise its prices in September due to “rising costs in doing business in Ireland.”

The drinks company said that they have informed all its customers, including pubs, retailers and wholesalers about the changes in price.

It is said that the price will go up by *the tiniest amount* of 4c, but that increase comes before VAT, which means you may end up paying 6c (told you, it’s not that much).

The company said: “This increase is in line with current inflation trends and it is necessary to ensure we can continue to make significant investments in our business and in the wider hospitality sector.”

It will most likely effect pints of Guinness, Hop House, Carlsberg, Smithwicks, Budweiser and more that are sold in pubs, bars and off-licences.

To be honest, going up by at least 6c doesn’t seem like much at all, but we can only see the price rising in the near future.

Probably won’t stop us enjoying our pints though…
