We regularly hear about actors and actresses undertaking extreme fitness regimes before a new role. Think Natalie Portman's transformation into a ballet body for 'Black Swan'. Sometimes, unfortunately for them, we hear of the opposite sort of body regime, think Renee Zellweger piling on the pounds for 'Bridget Jones' Diary'...
The latest actor to admit to a gruelling fitness regime in preparation for a new film is our very own Colin Farrell.
The Irish actor has admitted the physical preparation for his new action film 'Total Recall' was “extremely challenging”.
He confessed the most difficult part of shooting Les Wiseman's action movie remake was the intense gym sessions he had to undertake to get fit.
We're guessing he must have avoided Ireland for the duration of the training and health regime, seeing as this morning as he admitted to eating 's***e" anytime he arrives home.
The 36-year old told Collider.com he had four months before he started shooting so he went to the gym every day.
“I started shooting and did ridiculous things like I went to the gym after a 15 hour set. That was the hardest thing, it was staying in shape.
“I got really fit before the film and I knew it was going to be a tough shoot and I spent six months running, jumping, shooting, falling, being hit, hitting, screaming, shouting!”
The Hollywood actor admitted he didn't like to watch himself on the big screen, but claims he is looking forward to this finished product.
“I haven't seen it, but I saw a rough cut of it about five months ago and even what I saw, I thought was entertaining. There's enough in this film on the screen for my presence not to detract from the experience as it usually does.
“What Len really wanted was to make a film that-as much as first and foremost it's an action film-has enough of an emotional and dramatic heft that it can keep the audience engaged.”
'Total Recall' also stars Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel. The trailer can be viewed on Her.ie here.
All we can say is we are most definitely looking forward to seeing the physical results of your hard work Colin...*winky face*
