Were you one of them? Gardaí have this week revealed that more than 2,600 drivers were caught running a red light in Dublin city centre to date this year. New figures were released on Friday as Gardaí launched a new safety campaign which will run throughout October and November. The new initiative plans to decrease the number of accidents in the capital. “We are aiming this red light running campaign at all drivers, cyclists and pedestrians and appealing to them to reduce the risk to themselves and others by simply obeying the rules of the road when the traffic light is red,” said Chief Superintendent Aidan Reid. If you are caught running a red light you will face a fine of up to €120 and three penalty points.
