It’s hard to believe that the Mini could get any better (yes, we are keen fans in case you didn't guess!) but just when we thought it had reached the pinnacle of its success, they go and launch the new five-door version.
It’s kept all of its design features that we’ve come to love over the years (including the funky old school dash), but has made life that bit more practical by adding back seat doors.
Down to the nitty gritty, the Mini ticks many of the boxes necessary in a car. Apart from being stylish and much, much more, the new five-door has six options to choose from: the Mini One, One D, Cooper, Cooper D, Cooper S and Cooper SD - basically, it all really boils down to exactly what you want from your car.
Differences come down to engine size and fuel type but what you really need to know is that the new version of the car is 161mm longer, 11mm higher and has increased boot space. Driving the car is still effectively the same, it’s as smooth and fun as ever.
The controls on the car at dashboard level are much more user-friendly, the steering is as good as ever and with a BMW engine under the hood you are sure to enjoy many happy hours of driving, plus the usual ease of parking.
And one of the best thing about it all? The colours! Not to sound like a complete girl about the thing but here at Her Towers we have fallen head over heels for the Mini five-door Cooper S used in their advertising campaign – it’s electric blue...need we say more? We. Want. It. Now, please.
Entering into a league where brands such as Ford and Volkswagen dominate, Mini needed to produce the goods - and it seems as though they rose to the challenge.
Our verdict? If it hasn’t become clear, we want it yesterday, but for those of you still unsure, bag a test drive and enjoy some Mini goodness.
Oh, and it gets a bonus point for making life with a baby's car seat that bit easier too.
