Tributes paid to 3-year-old boy killed in tragic Limerick accident

Tributes have been pouring in for a 3-year-old boy who was killed in a tragic accident in Limerick.

Padraig Cunningham was hit by a vehicle on Friday, July 21st.

The accident took place outside his home in west Limerick.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the heartbreaking accident. They transported Padraig to University Hospital Limerick.

However, he was later pronounced dead.

Padraig will be laid to rest at St. Ita’s Church, Raheenagh this afternoon.

The young boy’s funeral notice reads:

“Kilcoora South, Broadford, Co. Limerick, on July 22, 2022, following a tragic accident, aged 3 years.

“Cherished and adored son of heartbroken parents Robert and Denise née McAuliffe (Newmarket).

“Much-loved brother of Áine, Maebh, and Clodagh, treasured grandson of Patsy and Margaret and the late Denis and Anne McAuliffe.”

“Very sadly missed by his parents, sisters, grandparents, as well as his aunts Aedín, Marion and the late Patricia, uncles-in-law Jerry and Pat.”

“Also missed by his cousins, relatives, neighbours, and friends.”

One woman wrote, “Rest in peace little Padraig. You will be missed and never forgotten by so many, especially your parents, sisters, and grandparents. Look down on them, little angel.”

Family friend Jerome Scanlan told The Independent: “We’re all trying to come to terms with the tragic news in Ballyduhig today.”

“It’s just a dreadful scenario. It’s dreadful for his mother and his father, as well as his three sisters.”
