16 and Pregnant star Jordan Cashmyer dies aged 26
Former 16 and Pregnant star Jordan Cashmyer has passed away at 26 years of age.
Confirming the sad news to TMZ, the medical examiner did not reveal a cause of death or other details surrounding the tragedy.
Paying tribute to his late daughter, Jordan's dad Dennis Cahmyer Jr. took to social media to share his heartbreak.
He wrote on Facebook: "Last night I received a call no parent ever wants."
"My oldest beloved daughter, Jordan has passed away, she was only 26 years old."
"Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should ever have to go through losing a child, EVER," he continued. "Please keep my family in your thoughts prayers as we navigate through this terrible tragedy."
Requesting that the family get some privacy at this time, he concluded: "We are surrounded by the love and support of our children, granddaughter Lyla, and family members."
The Baltimore native made a name for herself in the first season of the MTV series, showing her relationship with boyfriend Derek Taylor and her pregnancy with their daughter Evie.
After her parents didn't approve of her and Derek's relationship, she was kicked out of her home when she refused to end things with him and the series reflected on her homelessness during her pregnancy.
According to OK! Magazine, Jordan struggled with mental health issues and drink and drug abuse, but celebrated one year sober in January 2021, only a year before she tragically passed away.
