Amy Schumer is being praised for her Ozempic honesty

The mum confirmed she was taking the weight loss drug last year, but has stopped taking it due to the severe side effects.

Everyone will have a different experience with Ozempic, but the actress admitted the side effects forced her to stop taking it.

She spoke out about her decision during an interview on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

Schumer said she felt so sick that it started to impact her family life.

“I was one of those people that felt so sick and couldn’t play with my son. I was so skinny and he’s throwing a ball at me and [I couldn’t]."

This isn't the first time Schumer has spoken out about her Ozempic experience.

The mum previously opened up about the 'red flag' symptoms she experienced during an interview on The Howard Stern Show.

"I have this gene, GDF15, which makes you extremely prone to nausea, which is why I was so sick during my pregnancy."

Schumer said she tried Ozempic for the first time in 2022 and was bedridden.

"I was like, vomiting – and then you have no energy. But other people take it and they’re all good.”

"You’re like, ‘Wait a minute. Can we slow down?’ The side effects are you have a better personality. I tried it and I was vomiting and I’m in bed and my son’s like, ‘Can you play tag?’ I’m like, ‘I can’t.’ I was shrivelling,” Schumer said.

According to experts, the main side effects of Ozempic are:

• Breathing problems or wheezing.
• Racing heart.
• Fever or general ill feeling.
• Swollen lymph nodes.
• Swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat.
• Trouble swallowing or throat tightness.
• Itching, skin rash, or pale red bumps on the skin called hives.
• Nausea or vomiting.
