Angela Scanlon's first book set to be released in May
"It is the most open I've ever been about a lot of stuff."
Angela Scanlon has announced that she has written her first book titled Joyrider.
The TV presenter took to Instagram on Wednesday morning to share the exciting news, revealing that it will be released in May.
Explaining her hopes for the book, she wrote:
"Joyrider is a bumpy read. It is the most open I've ever been about a lot of stuff I've never really talked about. It has felt equal parts exciting and terrifying but... it's also felt liberating to share parts of myself that I have hidden for a long time.
"I hope that in doing so it might allow you might feel a bit less alone or maybe just less weird! I hope if you're not where you want to be right now that you'll feel hopeful and empowered and armed with some tools that will help you live a life that feels FULL.
"I hope after reading it you’ll feel stronger, more hopeful, defiant, more connected and compassionate, MORE YOU. At the very least I hope you don’t hate it."
She also admitted that she's “never been more nervous about anything” in her life.
The book revolves around the concept of gratitude and "what happens when we stop taking things for granted and start putting some grá into our gratitude".
Angela recently announced that she is expecting her second with husband Roy Horgan.
She later shared the news that she is opting for or a home birth after realising her fear of hospitals with her first child.
"I didn't realise that I'm quite scared of hospitals for whatever reason," she told Amy Huberman on her Mamia and Me podcast.
"I've never spent very much time in hospitals so maybe that's why, or maybe I remember it from being a baby. Everything looked so medical, which was quite a scary thing.
"So if I'm at home it'll be more chilled."
