Anna Kendrick was in an abusive relationship for seven years
Anna Kendrick has opened up about being in an abusive relationship in a moving new interview.
The actress bravely opened up about the struggles she faced during her appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
Kendrick admitted she didn't realise she was in an abusive relationship for some time because "it didn't follow the traditional pattern."
She said the relationship lasted for seven years but she always thought she was in the wrong.
Kendrick said she was researching articles and realised part of her relationship "looks like how they're describing it.'
"It was like an overnight switch... that went on for about a year. So it didn't follow that more traditional, like, it's like a frog in boiling water thing where it started slow," Kendrick explained.
"He told me one day I was terrorizing him because I was just crying"
"It came out of absolutely nowhere, but was built on this foundation of I had so much love and trust for that person, so I thought it had to be me," Kendrick admitted.
The Simple Favour star said she tried so hard to "fix whatever was wrong with me."
"I turned my life completely upside down trying to fix whatever was wrong with me," she said.
"He told me one day I was terrorizing him because I was just crying because I couldn't pretend that things were fine anymore.
"I just started crying. And he screamed in my face, 'You're terrorizing me.' But it was truly from the place of a person who believed that they were being terrorized," Kendrick said.
The actress said things quickly ended after her former partner yelled at her during a therapy session. She said it was a wake up call for her and things ended shortly after that.
Kendrick has been praised for being so incredibly honest about her experience.
There's no doubt she will help other victims feel less alone and may even inspire other women to walk away.
