Anne Hathaway had the perfect advance response to body shamers

“‘It’s not me, it’s you.”

Anne Hathaway has set down body shamers in the best way possible as she puts on weight for a new role.

On Thursday, the Oscar winner shared a video of her in the gym as she trains for the new film.

She explained that she’s gaining weight for the role and “it’s going well” – and pre-emptively shut down any would-be future body shamers in the process.

She wrote:

“I am gaining weight for a movie role and it is going well.

“To all the people who are going to fat shame me in the upcoming months, it’s not me, it’s you. Peace xx.”

She later added to the caption:

“I wanted to set this to Queen’s ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’ but copyright said no. Continued peace xx.”

The intense video shows the actress running through a routine of bench presses, ab work, push-ups and more.

The actress, who has a 2-year-old son named Jonathan, has previously opened up about body image – and the pressure put on new mums to lose baby weight.

Following the birth of her son, she wrote on Instagram:

“There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever).

“There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all).

“There is no shame in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts because last summer’s are just too dang short for this summer’s thighs.

“Bodies change. Bodies grow. Bodies shrink. It’s all love (don’t let anyone tell you otherwise).”
