Anti-Beyoncé Protest Planned Following Superbowl Backlash

People are calling the star's performance 'racist'

Beyoncé’s performance of her brand new single Formation was undoubtedly the highlight of last weekend’s Superbowl (and my life), but the star has ruffled a few feathers with the political themes the song contains.

So much so, that there will be an anti-Beyoncé protest held at the NFL headquarters on Park Avenue in New York City next Tuesday.

While most people applauded her social commentary about racism in America, there were a few conservatives that felt that she was ‘slapping law enforcement in the face.’

Many people are angry at the costumes her dancers wore, which resembled the uniform of the Black Panthers, an activist group from the 1960s and 70s that fought against oppression that black people faced (and still face to this day).

However, there will also be a counter-protest scheduled for the same time and location, and according to their Eventbrite, they won’t let Beyoncé hate slide.

‘We have asked our biggest stars to get political and Bey went there. Don’t let anyone make her powerful statement about the value of Black life be overshadowed by those who don’t believe that our lives matter.’

Considering the well-documented struggle of black people and prejudice against African-Americans that still runs deep in the US (Ferguson is a great example), we think we know what side we are on.
