Ashley Graham says she nearly died while giving birth to her twin boys

God love her.

Model Ashley Graham has revealed that she almost died while giving birth to her twin sons after suffering a “severe” haemorrhage.

The mum of three said that their birth in January was traumatic, writing a candid essay for Glamour magazine about welcoming Malachi and Roman into the world.

The 34 year old wrote: “The night I gave birth to the twins, I hemorrhaged. It was 2 a.m. when my contractions started.

“At 3:45 a.m. I went to the toilet thinking I needed the bathroom, and Malachi came out just as my doula was arriving, in time to bring him into the world.”

It was two hours and seven minutes later that Roman arrived, and Ashley and her husband began celebrating, delighted that her labour only lasted three and a half hours and she her son Isaac had two new brothers.

“The next thing you know, I looked at my midwife and I said, ‘I don’t feel good. I think I need to lay down,’ and I blacked out,” the model added.

Feeling a touch on her cheek, Ashley later found out that was actually someone “smacking the crap out of my cheek” and “jabbing me with a needle in my arm.”

As she woke up, her family were afraid to tell her what had happened, trying not to frighten her. Ashley had lost litres of blood and a midwife had to “press her finger down right above my vagina bone to try and stop the bleeding.”

Letting out a cry, Ashley looked around the room at all of the blood, not yet able to stand and walk to the bed in her apartment.

Thankfully, her twins were healthy but for Ashley, she was bedbound for a week and didn’t leave home for the next two months.

The mum also opened up about suffering a miscarriage in February of 2021, only a month after discovering she was pregnant, saying it was one of her biggest losses to date.
