A massive congrats to Kim-Joy!

Kim-Joy Hewlett, who delighted fans with her quirky cakes on the 2018 season of The Great British Bake Off, has married her partner of 9 years Nabil Homsi.

Kim-Joy shared snaps of their wedding to Instagram, and in her caption, she explained why they chose to get married in Los Vegas.

She wrote: “@nabiltravels is my favourite person, my best friend, and the most genuine, kind and funny person. I can’t believe we’re finally married, after first meeting about 9 years ago now!

“We knew we wanted to do something fun and no pressure (especially cause we’ve put so much time, money and planning into the house renovation already!) – and as we were already headed to Vegas, we decided to just get married there!”

The baker explained that the ceremony consisted of just the two of them, their friends Simon and Charlotte and an Elvis impersonator, despite Kim-Joy not actually knowing any Elvis songs.

The rest of the caption details the last-minute wedding preparation. Kim-Joy bought her orange dress the day before, while Nabil picked his ring that morning. Kim-Joy used her own engagement ring as the ring for the ceremony, but added that she will get a wedding band at a later point.

After their wedding, they visited Omega Mart, which is an immersive art place, and then they ran through torrential rain to hop in a taxi back to their hotel. They had no where booked for dinner, but managed to find a place that was happy to squeeze them in. Kim-Joy added that she thankfully had a spare pair of socks in her bag so she didn’t have to eat with wet feet.

“Can’t believe I’m now Mrs Homsi,” she wrote. “And we’re going to have a party back home at some point with friends and family.”

She added: “And hopefully this is a reminder that a wedding doesn’t have to be any particular way to be meaningful! I love seeing beautifully planned weddings full of details – but we knew that wouldn’t work for us personally. Do whatever works for you!”
