Fiona, who worked as a stage manager for RTE, sadly passed away this weekend.

Ryan Tubridy has led the tributes to Fiona Hurley, who worked with him on The Late Late Show.

Fiona, who Ryan described as a “beacon of light”, passed away over the weekend.

The Late Late Show presenter took to Instagram to pay tribute to his colleague this morning.

“We lost a very dear member of the Late Late family this weekend when Fiona Hurley passed away,” he wrote.

“She was a beacon of light and kindness in a world gone mad. We will miss her so much and are thinking of her family today. She loved the Toy Show and this photo captures who she was. RIP Fiona.”

Ryan also discussed Fiona on air this morning.

“She was one of those very, very kind human beings who people loved,” he said. “When we did the Toy Show, she dressed up as Princess Fiona, and went fully green. And really went for it. You know, one of those people who just gets it.”

He continued: “She loved dogs, and she was always giving out to me for talking about them in a mean way whenever I did.

“And even right up until recently, she had said, ‘tell him to stop being mean about dogs jumping up on him.’ That’s how funny she was.”

He added: “She had a gorgeous sense of humour.”

Another colleague of Fiona’s, Paddy C Courtney, offered his condolences.

The writer and actor wrote: “I loved working in #RTE with the kind, smart, beautiful & funny Fiona Hurley. Shocked & saddened to learn of her death today. Condolences to her family & friends. Rest in peace.”

On Friday night, the Late Late Show raised money for the Irish Cancer Society during a special Daffodil Day edition of the programme.

Tubridy was joined by iconic pop twins Jedward, who shaved their heads to raise some much needed funds for the charity.
