Outlander's Caitriona Balfe celebrated the new year in a very big way.

The Dublin-born actress showed off her sparkling ring at the awards ceremony on Sunday night. She was "very happy" to debut the ring, which was a round diamond, set between two sapphires. She told People magazine:

"It happened over the break. I'm very happy."

The 38-year-old has been dating Tony McGill for nearly two years, though they have kept their relationship mostly out of the public eye. They were last photographed together at the 2017 Oscar Wilde Awards in February. The pair were first spotted together in 2015 after a pal shared an Instagram video of the actress sitting on McGill's lap as she played the tin whistle. https://www.instagram.com/p/xUj2mnE2WA/ She was nominated for best performance by an actress in a television series, drama, for her role in Outlander.  She ultimately lost out to The Handmaid's Tale on Elisabeth Moss. Balfe wore a black ankle-length Chanel gown for the ceremony, which featured tulle flowers and a lace trim neckline. Rumours that the couple were set to tie the knot began to circulate this week after a journalist shared a photo congratulating the "newly engaged actress".
