The actress gave birth to her second child in May last year.

Brooke Vincent, the actress who plays Sophie Webster in Coronation Street, is quitting the show after 18 years.

Brooke had previously taken a break from the soap in 2019 for maternity leave – when she gave birth to her first child, Mexx, with partner Kean Bryan.

The 29-year-year old later announced the birth of her second son, Monroe, in May 2021.

It was assumed that she would reprise her role as Sophie at some point but now, it looks like she will be saying goodbye to the cobblestoned streets forever.

A source told The Sun:

“Everyone thought Brooke would be coming back to the soap but her contract ended two years ago and there are no talks about bringing her back on.

“She is loving being a mother of two young boys and plans to be a full time mum most the time.”

However, this may not be the last we ever see of her as she has mentioned that she would like do “a bit of acting work towards the end of this year” – just not on Corrie.

Brooke first joined the cast of the show back in 2004, when she was just 12 years old. She was the third actress to take on the role of Sophie.

She has been involved in several major storylines – the most notable being the exploration of the character’s sexuality when she stuck up a relationship with her close female friend Sian.

She was written out of the show temporarily in 2019 when her character was last seen embarking on a trip to Cambodia.

Even though she hasn’t appeared on the show since, she is still regularly mentioned on screen.
