Daithí Ó Se is considering returning to the classroom

Ellen Fitzpatrick

Hard to imagine.

Once upon a time, presenter Daithí Ó Sé was spending his working days at the chalkboard rather than on our TV screens.

It’s strange to picture him anywhere but the Rose of Tralee stage or in the Today with Maura and Daithí studio, but in another lifetime Daithí was a teacher.

Opening up about his love for teaching, the RTÉ star revealed that he would happily make a return to the classroom some day.

Speaking on Midlands 103’s That’s Life show with Brian Cunningham, Daithí revealed that he not only was a teacher, but has a few different careers under his belt.

A teacher, a butcher, a bouncer, a ferry driver and even a ringmaster at the circus, we’re just wondering where he found the time to fit it all in.

“If you weren’t Daithí Ó’ Sé, TV host extraordinaire, would you still be teaching?” Brian asked him.

“Oh, I’d imagine so,” Daithí replied. “I really, really liked teaching. I had a great time teaching. I was teaching in a really nice school in Athy in Kildare.”

“So yeah teaching is something I really liked to do and I get along well with kids as well and it is something I could go back to maybe,” the Kerry native added.

He added that he’s already gone back to that world recently, revealing that he is “chatting to some people about putting a TV course together.”

“I’m helping them out with that from the presenter’s side of things,” he said.

So it looks like he might be on his way back, one way or another.
