Dakota Fanning reveals Tom Cruise’s sweet tradition for her birthday

Dakota Fanning and Tom Cruise first crossed paths in 2004 when they were cast as the father-daughter duo Ray and Rachel in the apocalyptic thriller 'War of the Worlds'

During a recent appearance on the Kelly Clarkson Show, Fanning, 30, shared a heartwarming tradition that Cruise, 61, has kept up since they first met. 

The former child star revealed that Cruise is not only a thoughtful friend of hers but he is also a remarkably consistent gift-giver.

Dakota reminisced about her time filming "War of the Worlds," highlighting a memorable moment from her 11th birthday. 

“Tom gave me my first cellphone,” she recalled. The Motorola Razr, a coveted item at the time, meant the world to the young actress who had been longing for one. 

This generous gesture marked the beginning of a touching annual tradition.

Fanning went on to reveal that for nearly 20 years, Cruise has sent her the same type of gift every birthday. 

“I loved shoes when I was little and I started to be able to fit into really small adult shoes when I was on the War of the Worlds press tour. I was very excited about that. So from that birthday on, he always sends me shoes,” she gushed.

Talk show host Kelly Clarkson couldn’t help but laugh at the thought of Fanning gathering a vast shoe collection, courtesy of Cruise.
