Dr Alex thinks Love Island needs a serious change going forward

Love Island is a great show. It's entertaining, it's fun, it's got a few attractive people milling about the place causing drama and saying questionable things. It's good, but despite this, the show of course comes with its flaws. Namely the fact that there's a severe lack of diversity present in the programme's cast. Or rather, most of them tends to be skinny, white, and have been a model or an actor at some point in their lives. Which is grand and all, but sometimes people just want something a little different, you know? One of those people is actually Dr Alex, who says that the show is in need of a bit of a change cast-wise if they want to keep audiences engaged. He told the Daily Telegraph: "I think diversity is very important, not just in the way you look but in backgrounds and what people do for a living." Paul Mortimer, Controller of Digital Channels at ITV, said that Love Island was a "sexy show." He said:

"There's also another conversation going on about childhood obesity. If you want to look like the guys on Love Island you have to work out. "It is entertainment on ITV2 and in the same way Hollywood casts a certain type to get bums on seats in theatres or other shows, the Strictly dancers or whatever..."
