“From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

Elliot Page has thanked fans for their love and support since coming out as transgender.

The Juno star, who came out as transgender earlier this month, took to Instagram yesterday to share a message to his followers, and to encourage them to support transgender charities “if you are able.”

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you,” he wrote. “Your love and support has been the greatest gift. Stay safe. Be there for each other.

“If you are able, support @transanta and @translifeline. See you in 2021. Xoxo Elliot.”

The Umbrella Academy star initially announced that he is trans on December 1.

Sharing his pronouns with fans, Page said that although he is “proudly happy,” he is also scared by “the hate, the jokes, and the violence” that members of the trans community are too often subjected to.

“Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they, and my name is Elliot,” he said. “I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life.

“I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive.

“To all the trans people who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse, and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you, and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better. Thank you for reading this.”

Elliot shot to fame back in 2007 when he starred as titular character Juno MacGuff in coming of age movie, Juno.

He has since appeared in Inception, Flatliners, and is currently starring in Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy.
