First Dates bartender Merlin Griffiths has given fans an update about his cancer diagnosis from the hospital bed.
Merlin revealed last September that he had been diagnosed with bowel cancer and has since been preparing to undergo surgery to remove a tumour.
Giving fans an update on Instagram, he wrote: “Ready as I’ll ever be. Tumour removal time. #bowelcancerawarenessmonth.”

Fans were quickly rushing to the comments to give their well wishes, with one saying: “Sending all the love in the world to you Merlin! You’re one of the loveliest souls I’ve ever met and you’ve absolutely got this!”
Another wrote: “Sending you love and a speedy recovery well done for spreading awareness. My step father has just been through this surgery and is doing brilliantly. You’ll smash it x.”
A third wrote: “All the best Merlin wishing you better and a speedy recovery.”

In the early hours of the morning, he gave a second update to say the surgery had been a success, writing: “2am. Tubes outta everywhere. Aches and pains. But no tumour! #bowelcancerawarenessmonth”
One fan wrote: “Awe I’ve been waiting for an update, hope your feeling as well as can be, you’ve got this Merlin.”
Another added: “You are incredible! Sending love and wellness your way. You take care xx.”
