Irish gardening expert Diarmuid Gavin is one of the celebrities being lined up for the new series of ITV’s Dancing on Ice.
Forty-eight year old Gavin previously competed in the second series of BBC ballroom competition Strictly Come Dancing, winding up the fourth celebrity to be eliminated from the 2004 season.
It’s safe to assume he’d be hoping to go one better on ‘Dancing on Ice’, and we suspect the tougher conditions might be better suited to the hardy gardener.
Though his appearance on the show is yet to be confirmed, Gavin is currently understood to be in ongoing talks with the producers.
He may not be the only Irish representation in the line-up this year though, as boxing legend Steve Collins has also been approached with a view to competing.
If the deals go through, Gavin and Collins will follow in the footsteps, (skate lines?) of other Irish celebrities who have appeared on the show, including Samantha Mumba, Donal MacIntyre and the late Stephen Gately.
