A teenage girl has gone viral after she managed to snap her retainer when Michael B. Jordan appeared shirtless in Black Panther.
It all began when her orthodontist shared a post on Tumblr about the slightly embarrassing incident.
He wrote:
“One of my patients came in for an emergency visit, because she snapped the wire on her retainer watching the movie when MBJ took his shirt off she clenched her teeth so f–king hard she snapped it.
“that is the f–king funniest shit ever to me this tiny 17 year old girl thirsting so goddamn hard she busted steel.”
The post soon made its way onto Twitter, where it was spotted by Sophia Robb (or as the internet has dubbed her, ‘retainer girl’) herself.
And that’s when things really took off.
A few days later, Sophia announced that she was ‘retainer girl’, writing:
“Wait. That girl is me. That is my orthodontist’s tumblr. This is a post about me?”

Her tweet swept across the internet pretty quickly, getting almost 135,000 retweets and 529,000 likes at the time of writing.
She later added that the orthodontist was the “chillest person I have ever met” – so no harm, no foul, right?
Fans began to tag Michael B. Jordan in the comments underneath the tweet, declaring it the “funniest thing” and “today’s Internet winner”.
And while Eric Killmonger may be villainous, the actor was willing to lend a helping hand in the situation.

He tweeted:

According to Sophia, the two of them have even spoken via DM after the whole thing went viral.

Even Sophia’s dad got in on the act.
He joked:
“Indeed, everyone, she is OK.
“Furthermore, I can assure you all that her family has already set aside funds sufficient to purchase yet another retainer, in anticipation of Mr. Jordan’s next film. Rest easy.”

She’s been keeping her Twitter followers updated ever since she confirmed herself to be ‘retainer girl’, even re-sharing a number of the best reactions to her story.
