“Life gets in the way sometimes.”
Love Island’s Greg O’Shea has confirmed that he is newly single after splitting from his girlfriend of two years.
The 26-year-old, who was crowned the winner of Love Island in 2019 alongside Amber Gill, ensured fans that the break-up was “amicable” and that he and his now ex are still on good terms.
While Greg tried to keep his relationship out of the public eye, it was rumoured that he was dating social media influencer Kate Hutchins.

Speaking to RSVP Live, the former rugby player said: “I am not loved up anymore, I am single as of the last couple of weeks.
“It is the way that things have panned out for me. I was with a lovely girl for the last two years and we had some great times together.
“But, unfortunately, we weren’t on the same page and we didn’t want the same things out of life.”
Greg admitted that the split was quite difficult but he knows it was for the best.
“We had to make the mature decision to walk away from each other even though it was heartbreaking. Life gets in the way sometimes.
“It was very amicable, there was no anger. We want different things in life right now, she wants to put all her effort into work and I want to be closer to someone
“We didn’t want to live in the same place. And there was no point forcing something because we would have ended up resenting each other.”
Back in September 2021, Greg announced that he would be retiring from rugby to focus on different aspects of his career.

“My life has always been focused around my rugby career, so it has been a really difficult decision for me to decide to retire from the game I love,” he wrote at the time.
“It just feels like the right time for me to close that chapter of my life, especially after reaching my goal of becoming an Olympian and with everything else I want to do outside of rugby.”
