She may be Ireland’s Olympic golden girl but it seems that some sections of the media are still having trouble with Katie Taylor’s nationality.
BBC News caused a stir this morning when they posted a story about the lifting of a ban on India’s Olympic Association, accompanied by a picture of Taylor and the Irish team at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Games. With the tricolour featured front and centre in the picture, it’s not clear how the mistake was made but Twitter users quickly picked up on it and berated the English national broadcaster for the confusion.

The article has since been updated but this is not the first time that someone has tried to take credit for our national hero, with The Telegraph coming under fire for claiming Taylor as British prior to her gold medal win.
