Harry Potter fans are all saying the same thing about Kate Middleton’s latest outfit

Once you see it.

As fans of the royal family are aware, Kate Middleton and Prince William are in the middle of a two-day surprise visit to Northern Ireland.

On Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met with Police Service officers and staff to privately “hear about the unique challenges they face”, according to the itinerary released by Kensington Palace.

That was followed up with a visit to the charity Cinemagic at the Braid Arts Centre, where fans got a glimpse at Kate’s outfit for the day.

And there’s no denying it: the Cinderella blue coat dress (which is thought to be by Mulberry) is gorgeous. It really is.

But it’s also drawn a lot of comparisons to one of the characters from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – Beauxbaton’s Fleur Delacour, one of the competitors in the Triwizard Tournament.

We totally see it.

Eagle-eyed social media users were quick to take to twitter to point out the similarities.

It’s not the first time a comparison has been drawn between the wizarding world and the royal family.

Last year, Harry Potter fans (jokingly) revealed a connection to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s youngest child, Prince Louis.

Following the reveal of the little one’s name, fans were coming up with all kinds of comparisons, from One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson to Louis Theroux, there was one connection that few seemed to catch onto: The Weasley family from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series.

And while we know that Prince William and Kate Middleton were unlikely to turn to some famous faces or even a series of books (no matter how magical it is), we still think it’s quite sweet.

Following the official announcement, the Pottermore Twitter account was quick to point out to the moniker’s connection to the world of witchcraft and wizardry.

Echoing the words Harry said to his own son in the Deathly Hallows epilogue, they said:

“Louis Arthur Charles, you were named after three iconic Weasleys…”

Charles (or Charlie) is one of Ron’s oldest brothers, the one who went to study dragons in Romania.

And, as fans of the series are no doubt aware, Arthur was the name of Ron’s father.

As for Louis? That was the name of Fleur and Bill’s youngest son.

In all actuality, the name Louis – which is also both one of Prince William and Prince George’s middle names – is thought to be a nod to William’s own dad, Prince Charles, whose great-uncle and mentor, Early Louis Mountbatten.
