‘I haven’t always been the greatest son…’ Baz Ashmawy posts emotional message to his mother, Nancy

Nancy, a hero.

Happy birthday Nancy.

Today, Baz Ashmawy took to social media to post a heartfelt message to mark his mother’s birthday.

Nancy Ashmawy rose to fame at 70-years-old when she took part in the iconic series 50 Ways To Kill Your Mammy alongside her son, Baz.

The series followed the pair as they left the comforts of Dublin for daring adventure across the world. From skydiving to dune bugging, the pair completed it all and it wasn’t a bother to Nancy, who remained ready for a challenge and full of dry humour for four series before the programme wrapped in 2016.

The series was such a hit, it even won an Emmy in 2015 in the “Non-Scripted Entertainment” category. The show also highlighted the beautiful bond between mother and son, something which Baz cherishes now more than ever.

Marking his mother’s birthday today, the star took to Instagram writing:

“Happy Birthday Ma! We’ve been through it all. Being a single parent is hard. Raising a boy and making him a man. I haven’t always been the greatest son but you’ve always forgiven me. You’ve always steered me straight.”

Continuing, he wrote:

“I feel like I’ve been laughing and crying with you my whole life. I’m so very lucky to be your son. You’ve taught me everything about love, kindness and empathy. About hard work, self-belief and positivity. You’re the parent I strive to be but never will be.”

The post continued by Baz wishing Nancy an enjoyable holiday proving that eventhough the series may have ended, that hasn’t stopped Nancy from continuing to see the world.

What a hero.
