Kit was surrounded with support from his colleagues and fans alike.

Alice Oseman, Heartstopper’s show runner, pointed to the series’ message, and how it seems to have failed to resonate with some.

She wrote: “I truly don’t understand how people can watch Heartstopper and then gleefully spend their time speculating about sexualities and judging based on stereotypes.”

She added: “I hope all those people are embarrassed as F*CK. Kit you are amazing.”

Kizzy Edgell, who plays Darcy Olsson on the show, also shared a message of support. They wrote: “I love u kit im sorry this has been so disgustingly rough on you. been treated so unfairly.”

Several fans of the show also tweeted their support for Kit.

Heartstopper is the television adaption of the book of the same name by Alice Oseman. It follows Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) navigate his crush on his classmate Nick (Connor). Following its release on Netflix this year, it received praise for how it handles young LGBT+ love stories.
