It’s not that deep, y’all.
If ever there was a day to debunk speculation about A-listers dating, then it looks like today is it.
Earlier this morning, we reported on how both Bugzy Malone and Love Island’s Gemma Owen shut down rumours that they’re dating, and it looks like those Paul Mescal/Angelina Jolie reports are next up.
Shortly after it emerged that Paul and Phoebe Bridgers had reportedly split, some fans speculated that he had been on a date with Angelina Jolie, after they were papped enjoying a coffee together in London.
However, it seemed the meeting was more so that Paul could pass on some words of wisdom to Angelina’s daughter, Shiloh.
A source told Closer Magazine that Angelina is a “huge fan” of Normal People, and has been seriously impressed with Paul’s career to date.
They said: “Ange was a huge fan of Normal People and became obsessed with Paul, following his career closely and even writing to him.
“They stayed in contact, and when she got in touch to say she was coming to watch him in his new play with her 16-year-old daughter, Shiloh.
“He was the one who initiated the coffee afterwards, which she was incredibly excited by.”
So there you have it. The date was simply an opportunity for Paul to pass on some words of wisdom to Shiloh.
Earlier this month, reports of Paul and Phoebe’s split began circulating. The pair had been dating since 2020, in a relationship that first kicked off after Phoebe tweeted that she had finished Normal People and was feeling “sad” and “horny” as a result.
Since news of their breakup hit, Phoebe has also been spotted hanging out with Bo Burnham, with some reports suggesting that they have been dating since late last year.
