Add us as a preferred source on Google »Holly Willoughby stepped down as host of 'This Morning' after 14 years this week due to a kidnapping plot. The mum was left shaken after a man threatened to kidnap and murder her and ultimately decided to put her and her family's safety first.
Willoughby decided to step out of the spotlight but said it was an incredibly difficult decision to make.
ITV is offering the mum counselling following the incident.
A source close to the presenter told The Sun that they're doing everything they can to support her.
"There have been a lot of tears over the past few days. Holly spoke with her children and then with her husband Dan and her parents at length.
"ITV has been looking after Holly and has provided a support package to her as well as the offer of counselling if she needs it."
The presenter loved 'This Morning' but felt it was the right decision to make, especially after her life was threatened.
"Recent events have changed everything and Holly has to put her family first," they said.
She confirmed the news in a statement on Tuesday, October 10th.
"I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning.
"To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so so much. This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together.
"Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you.
The presenter is set to take some time away from the spotlight until things have calmed down for her.
