Fashion Police star Giuliana Rancic has spoken out about her weight loss and denied claims that she has an eating disorder.

The presenter, who was recently accused of making racist comments about singer Zendaya, regularly draws attention on the red carpet for her thin frame but in a new interview, she attributed her weight loss to cancer medication.

Rancic underwent a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and told People that she has since been on medication that speeds up her metabolism.

“It’s really hurtful. I’m sorry that some people think I’m disgustingly skinny, as they put it, but there’s nothing I can do. I’m lucky that I even have the type of cancer that reacts to the medicine.”

The E! star added that she know she is “too thin” and said “I look in the mirror and it’s hard for me”.

“I am really thin. I want to look fit and beautiful and sexy, and I can’t,” she said.

“Some people were saying, ‘The cancer is probably back.’ And they were accusing me of every eating disorder. I thought to myself, ‘God, if someone really thought I had an eating disorder, what a horrible way to approach it.”

She also revealed that she had been rejected by a major publication due to her figure and insisted that she has a healthy, balanced diet.

“That was really hurtful. I thought, ‘Wow, I’m on cancer medication. I’m doing the best that I can. I eat a very robust, healthy, balanced diet and dessert almost every night. I’m not hiding from anything.

“I never want my weight to distract people from what I do. But it is becoming a distraction, [whenever] I wear something sleeveless, show my arms, my back. I refuse to be broken [by what people say], I have so many beautiful things in my life.”
