“…I think that was one of the hardest jobs I’ve ever done” – Robert Pattinson on the Twilight Saga

The star feels the film's marketing created an online backlash.

Twilight heart-throb Robert Pattinson may have the franchise to thank for his glittering career on the big screen, but he’s not a fan of how the films were marketed.

The star opened up in an interview to The Hollywood Reporter, revealing he found it hard to play the lead who had limited reactions in the plot-line:

“It was quite a constricting character, in a way. You want to make [him] as dramatic as possible, but you have someone who never loses his temper, and so it’s like, ‘How the f**k do you do this?’…I think that was one of the hardest jobs I’ve ever done.”

The actor also criticised the marketing of the later Twilight films, blaming the competitive strategy on the online backlash by fans:

“Everything changed when they did the marketing, and the general public started to view [the films] in a different way when they started to push the ‘team’ aspect of it. It was like, ‘I’m on Team Edward or Team Jacob.’ That saturated everything, and suddenly there was a backlash. Whereas with the first [film], there wasn’t a backlash at all.”

Despite admitting to remaining close to Twilight pal Kellan Lutz, who he still plays poker with, the actor was quick to dismiss his on/off relationship with Kristen Stewart.

When asked if he still speaks to his ex, Pattinson brushed off the question with:

“Oh, yeah”.

Pattinson has been spotted in recent months on dates with a number of models, but has not confirmed a relationship since his split with co-star Stewart in May 2013.
