Actress Lea DeLaria has announced that she proposed to her girlfriend at a recent awards ceremony.
The Orange Is The New Black star popped the question to Chelsea Fairless at the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the couple are now planning to marry in 2016.
“It’s been two and a half years. I proposed to her. Everyone saw how emotional I was at the SAG awards. I was so filled with love. I turned to her at the Netflix party that night and asked her to marry me. We announced it to all of our friends there,” she told E! News.
DeLaria also confirmed the news on Facebook, saying “despite their concerns about the patriarchal confines of marriage, actor/singer Lea DeLaria and editrix Chelsea Fairless of Brooklyn, New York are pleased to announce their engagement. No date has been set for the impending nuptials but it’s safe to say that it will be the event of the season, or a total sh** show.”
