Is McDreamy Turning Into McSteamy? Patrick Dempsey Causes A Stir

He’s famous for playing hunky doctor McDreamy in the hit hospital drama Grey’s Anatomy but it seems actor Patrick Dempsey has decided to take on the global giant Starbuck with his own chain of coffee shops.

Earlier this week, Dempsey beat Starbucks in a bankruptcy auction to acquire Tully’s, a small chain of Seattle based coffee shops. Starbucks had planned to take over the smaller chain and rebrand them under their own logo but McDreamy’s company Global Baristas was triumphant at the auction and the actor celebrated the news on twitter.

"We met the green monster, looked her in the eye, and...SHE BLINKED! We got it! Thank you Seattle!"

The coffee giant isn't used to losing...

The win for Dempsey is a rare setback for the global coffee chain which also originated in Seattle and is credited with bringing coffee house culture to the US. Starbucks is seen as many people as bad news for independent coffee shops and businesses in smaller communities so we're sure the local community is delighted!

Dempsey said in an interview that as the underdog in Seattle, Tully's would need to find its identity. "It's a much smaller chain that has a lot of potential that hasn't been given the proper care," he said.
