Tennis ace Caroline Wozniacki has thanked fans for their support following the break-up of her relationship with Rory McIlroy.
The Danish sportswoman, 23, accepted Irish golfer Rory McIlroy’s proposal of marriage on New Year’s Eve last, and the pair were said to be planning a summer wedding.
However, former World Number One Rory confirmed yesterday that the relationship had come to an end. In a statement, he admitted to cold feet following in the aftermath of sending out the couple’s wedding invitations.
Today, Caroline has commented on the breakup via her Twitter account, saying:
“It’s a hard time for me right now.Thanks for all the sweet messages!Happy I support Liverpool right now because I know I’ll never walk alone”

The star also removed the word ‘fiancé’ from her Twitter bio, and changed her profile picture from one featuring Rory to one of her posing with a racquet.
