In a shock first exit, Jack Maynard has left the jungle.

The 22-year-old has left the jungle following the discovery of a series of insensitive tweets he posted dating back to 2012.

The tweets which grabbed the attention of the public, included both racial and homophobic slur and have since been removed from the social networking site.

A spokesperson for I’m A Celebrity released the following statement, confirming the departure.

“In the last few days Jack Maynard has been the subject of a succession of media stories which, given his position as a contestant on ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here’ – filmed in the Australian jungle, with no contact with the outside world, he has been unable to respond to.”

Continuing…

“Since it is only fair that everyone should be aware of any allegations made against them and should also have the right to defend themselves, it was agreed that it would be better to bring him out of the show.

“Jack agrees with this decision which was made by his representatives and ITV and thanks everyone who has supported him in the show this far.”

Jack, a YouTube star, who has a following of over 1.2 million subscribers, has now left the jungle and is reported to feel “ashamed”. He is rumoured to be incredibly sorry and understands that although those tweets were posted when he was 17-year-old, age is no defence.
