“I almost killed myself a year ago because of Piers Morgan’s relentless campaign of lies”

Jameela Jamil has spoken out about the “hatred” she experienced from Piers Morgan last year.

The actress said that last year she was suicidal after the host targeted her with a “relentless campaign of lies and hatred” in February 2020.

Jamil took to Twitter to talk about her experience with Morgan, she tweeted: “I almost killed myself a year ago because of Piers Morgan’s relentless campaign of lies and hatred against me last February. I’m glad I’m still alive today for many reasons.”

She posted the caption along with a video of herself on a red carpet.

The Good Place actress also posted another tweet with a video of him saying: “May we NEVER have to watch minorities have to go on mainstream news and have to *defend* their right to be treated with dignity and respect… ever again. All while being screamed over by this man.”

Last year in February Jamil called out Piers after he shared private DMs that Caroline Flack had sent him about Jamil. Caroline had been DM’ing Morgan about Jamil who had criticised Caroline’s show, The Surjury.

Jamil made it known that she was not insulting Caroline , she was just criticising the show, not the presenter. At the time she tweeted “I simply said I found the show ‘surjury’ (not her) problematic for kids to watch. Both times Caroline instigated debate with ME even though I was not targeting or blaming her at all. I always just politely explained my point.”

According to E! News Jamil tweeted at the time: “Using a dead woman who I was friends with, as a weapon to try to create further harassment for me as I’ve JUST explained publicly that last week I felt suicidal… is why he is this industry’s most problematic.”
