The 25-year-old said his experience in the jungle away from his girlfriend prompted him to want to pop the question.

He came across as an utter gentleman in the jungle and when The Vamps lead guitarist and vocalist was reunited with his girlfriend Kirstie Brittain after weeks of being apart he was completely overjoyed. It does indeed seem true that absence makes the heart grow fonder as James was overcome with the desire to propose following his jungle departure. James who has been dating the model and environmental student for several years now reportedly went to choose a ring shortly after Christmas. In an exclusive interview with Hello, James reveals how he had a bit of a helping hand from his I'm a Celeb BFF, Harry Redknapp:

"Harry said he knew a really good jeweller whenever I was ready to do it and I thought, I may as well just do it."

The football manager, (himself a bit of a hopeless romantic!) accompanied James to a jeweller in Bournemouth and it was a pretty easy process:

"By the time Harry arrived I had already chosen the ring; as soon as I saw it I knew it was the one. And Harry loved it too."

In the interview to Hello James reflected that his jungle experience afforded him some clarity of thought:

"I think when you’re in the jungle you have nothing to do but think and you really figure out the sort of person you are and the things that mean the most to you."

Reportedly the proposal occurred in the Lake District a few days after New Year's Eve. The couple has yet to announce the news on their social media. A huge congratulations to the happy couple!
