Jamie Dornan explains why he’s often in a ‘panic’ when meeting fans

Keeley Ryan

It’s all because of the Red Room.

Jamie Dornan has explained the reason why some particularly intense fan encounters leave him in a “panic”.

The 35-year-old has starred as billionaire Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades series for the last few years.

And, as it turns out, some fans often mistaken him for the character when he’s out and about – which can get pretty awkward, as you would expect.

He told Ellen DeGeneres:

“I get a lot of fans talking to me as if I am Christian Grey.

“I’ll be in a  line at Starbucks or something, and someone will be like, ‘Oh, Mr. Grey.’

“I’m literally holding one of my children, and just there so confused.”

He also explained how he gets a lot of comments about the books or the movies – particularly, references to the Red Room.

He added:

“I just don’t know how to respond to it. I’m not him, obviously.

“So I’m always just left sort of panicking. They probably think I’m sort of weird, which I’m fine with.”

He also opened up about the third instalment of the franchise, Fifty Shades Freed, which is due in Irish cinemas on February 9.

He added:

“I think the third one feels like a different kind of genre almost.

“Obviously, there’s still sex in it. There’s people who want to see sex it seems, so we’ve kept a fair amount.

“Someone was telling me that there’s more sex in the third one than any of the other two.

But I don’t know. I don’t sit there with, like, a timer. I don’t actually know the answer to that.

“But there’s definitely like a thriller aspect to this one. There’s really fun car chases and someone gets kidnapped, and, yeah, there’s lots happening this time.”
