Jesy Nelson has spoken out on her breakup from her fiancé Zion Foster, whom she split with after four years together.
The former Little Mix star got engaged to Foster in September, but a source revealed to The Sun last month that the pair had split and Nelson was no longer wearing her engagement ring.
"She and Zion remain friends and are fully focused on their daughters," The source said.
"They are fully united in co-parenting. Their priority continues to be the well-being of their daughters."
It comes after Jesy shared the heartbreaking news that her eight-month-old twin babies have been diagnosed with SMA1, which could result in them never being able to walk.
In a new update given to the Daily Mail, Nelson revealed the reason behind her split from Foster.
“We have been through such a traumatic experience and for us, our girls are our main priority and our main focus,” she told the outlet.
“We want to give them the most positive, happy and uplifting time and energy and because we have both been through such a traumatic experience, the energy wasn’t right between us, which is understandable.”
“That’s all we can do, be the best possible parents we can right now," she added.
The singer welcomed her twin daughters, Ocean and Story, in May, though the girls arrived a little earlier than expected.
During her pregnancy, the former Little Mix singer was diagnosed with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), which is a rare condition that can pose serious risks to one or both babies.
On January 4, Jesy took to her Instagram to announce that her baby girls have been diagnosed with SMA Type 1 or Werdnig-Hoffman illness, the most severe form of spinal muscular atrophy.
This disabling condition is lifelong and causes severe muscle weakness as well as severe breathing and swallowing issues.
Left untreated, the condition can be fatal.
Jesy explained in her video: “If it’s not treated in time, your baby’s life expectancy will not make it past the age of two.”
