A well deserved win, imo.

Jesy Nelson got quite emotional last night as she accepted an award for her documentary, Odd One Out.

The Little Mix star received the Best Factual Entertainment award at yesterday evening’s National Television Awards (NTAs) for the groundbreaking film, which documents her struggle with her appearance in her younger years.

The singer was plagued with hurtful comments about her weight at the beginning of her career to the point where she considered suicide.

Jesy said last night that winning the award was “overwhelming.”

“I’m such a baby. Thank you so much,” she said, tearful.

“I want to start by thanking the BBC for being the most incredible team to work with, and my dear friend Adam for being the most incredible director.”

“I want to thank every single person in the documentary for being so brave and courageous for sharing their story with the world.”

Released last year on the BBC, Odd One Out detailed Jesy’s struggle with her mental health in the midst of severe internet trolling about her appearance.

In the documentary, the performer met with other people who had been targeted online by vicious bullies and questioned why some people experienced such gratification from hurting others.

During her acceptance speech, Jesy also thanked her mother as well as boyfriend Chris Hughes for “making me feel confident every day.”

“Last but not least, thank you to everyone who voted. You have no idea how much this means to me,” she said.

“I’m so grateful that such a negative experience in my life turned into such a positive one, and that’s all thanks to you guys.”
